Marion Art Center dance classes open for registration
The Marion Art Center Dance Academy is now accepting registrations for its fall session. Classes are held every Monday for 10 weeks, starting Sept. 19. Joclyne Nunes is the instructor.
The preschool class, for ages 3 to 5, will be Mondays from 3:30 to 4:05 p.m. The beginner level, for ages 6 to 8, will be Mondays from 4:15 to 5 p.m. And the tap class, for ages 4 to 9, will be Mondays from 5:15 to 6 p.m.
The classes will take place on Sept. 19, Sept. 26, Oct. 3, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, Nov. 7, Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Nov. 28 and Dec. 5. There will be no class on Oct. 10, Columbus Day, or Oct. 31, Halloween.
During the final class on Dec. 5, parents are invited to an interactive viewing session during the scheduled class time to see the learning process their child is experiencing.
The preschool class will involve ballet warm up, jazz stretches, basic tumbling and basic tap steps. The cost is $145 for MAC members, and $160 for non-members.
The beginner dance class will involve ballet warm up and barre, jazz stretches and beginner tumbling. The fee for MAC members is $155 and $170 for non-members.
The tap class is designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles and will do exercises that focus on building the flexibility of knees and ankles and improving coordination and speed of movement. It will emphasize the development of proper tap technique, the production of clear tap sounds and having fun. The fee is $155 for MAC members and $170 for non-members.
