Marion Art Center presents first play of season, ‘Arsenic & Old Lace’

Feb 2, 2024

MARION – The Marion Art Center is presenting “Arsenic & Old Lace,” its first play of the season.

Written by Joseph Kesserling and directed by Donn Tyler, show performance dates are March 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday matinee starts at 2 p.m.

The play is “a classic black comedy about the only thing more deadly than poison: family.”

“Drama critic Mortimer Brewster’s engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat,” a press release said. “Mortimer rushes to tell Abby and Martha before they stumble upon the body themselves, only to learn that the two old women aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor, they killed him!”

Tickets can be purchased at www.marionartcenter.org/events and are available now for members for $20. Tickets go on sale Feb. 15 for nonmembers and will be $23. To learn more about free or low cost ticket offerings, visit www.marionartcenter.org/about.
