MARION — The Marion Art Center announced their newest exhibition: the Pastel Paintings of Janet Schwartz and Dave Kaphammer.

The exhibition will begin on Saturday, April 5, kicking off with an artists’ reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marion Art Center. The artwork will be displayed until Friday, May 16.

Schwartz traded her corporate career for “a full life of painting and teaching painting — and she hasn’t turned back.”

She serves as a member and artist on numerous art and pastel societies, including the International Association of Pastel Societies, the Copley Society of Art, the Rockport Art Association and the North Shore Art Association among others.

Her work is inspired by her past work commutes, particularly focusing upon the “energy and chaos of highway lights and reflections.”

Award-winning artist Kaphammer focused on pastel painting for approximately 20 years, alongside working as a full-time engineer for Bose.

“Exercising my artistic passion makes the engineering be more creative, while time spent working and commuting definitely fuels my hunger for making art,” said Kaphammer.

As an artist, Kaphammer serves as a member of several societies including the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Painters’ Society of Cape Cod, the International Association of Pastel Societies and the Copley Society of Art among others.

More information about the exhibit and artists can be found online at marionartcenter.org.
