Marion begins fireworks fundraising

Oct 30, 2018

MARION — Though the Fourth of July may seem far away, The Marion Fireworks Fundraising Committee is already working to fund their fireworks for the summer holiday.

The town does not spend any money to fund the fireworks display, so the committee looks to individuals, organizations and businesses to raise the $60,000 needed for the display.

They began their fundraising to pay for the fireworks, the cost of renting the barge, and the cost of hiring fire and police officers and an ambulance for the event, on Oct. 26.

Though the Silver Shell Beach display may seem like it is just fun, the committee points out that it is really “honors the sacrifices veterans have made; the freedom enjoyed by all Americans; and the pride shared among our citizens that ensures our community remains strong.”

To donate to this year’s event, make checks payable to Marion Fireworks Fundraising Committee and mail to the Marion Town House at 2 Spring Street, Marion, MA 02738.

All amounts are accepted and are tax deductible.
