Marion Concert Band to bring American pop music to life

MARION — The Marion Concert Band will continue its Friday evening concert series on Friday, Aug. 21.
The concert, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature a variety of American popular music styles from the 1890s to the present.
Trumpeter Mary St. Laurent-Sheehan will join the band, bringing experience with the Narragansett Bay Symphony, the Tri-County Symphonic Band and the Band of America's Few.
She is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where she performed with the Parris Island Marine Band.
The concert will be held at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand on Island Wharf and will be directed by Tobias Monte. All concerts are free and open to the public. Visit Marion Town Band on Facebook for up-to-date announcements and rain cancellation notices.
