Marion Cub Scouts put cars to the test in pinewood derby

Mar 2, 2013

On your mark, get set, go! The boys of the Marion Cub Scouts Pack 32 were jumping with excitement on Saturday afternoon for the pinewood derby race.

At the annual event, the Scouts raced a small wooden car they each had assembled with the help of their parents.

Of the cars, Scout Master Leo Grondin said, "I saw them earlier and they are primo."

Grondin offered his thanks to the boys and their families for all of the effort that went into each of the cars.

"You worked hard, you did your best, and you built a car. That's cool," Grondin said.

In the end, the top prizes went to four of the 25 Scouts. Lucas Marcolini's car took first place, Brendan Hubbard collected the second place trophy, Nathaniel Bangs' car finished third, and Nate Robertson took fourth place.
