Marion Election: Meet the Selectmen Candidates

Marion's Town Election is slated for May 12. There are five candidates running for a single open Selectman seat, vacated by longtime Selectman Stephen Cushing, who announced earlier in the year that he wouldn't be running for another term.

Norm Hills is a member of Marion's Planning Board, and Energy Management Committee. He has also spent time on the Master Plan subcommittee, Conservation Commission and Community Preservation Committee.

W. Dale Jones is a former wastewater engineer, director (and founder) of Marion Emergency Services, and head of the Marion Police Station Construction Committee.

Michelle Ouellette Smith is a full-time teacher at Acushnet Elementary School. She serves on the Sippican School Committee as well as the Old Rochester Regional School Committee, and is also a member of the Southeastern Massachusetts Educational Collaborative.

Christine Winters has degrees in finance and taxation. She previously a three-term member of the Sippican School Committee, and served on the budget subcommittee while there.

Matthew Vander Pol spent 13 years with an engineering company. He has owned a construction business in Marion for the last nine years.
