Marion Memorial Day observances

The town of Marion will commemorate Memorial Day on Saturday, May 24 and Monday, May 26.

Ceremonies will be held on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. when members of the Benjamin D. Cushing Post 2425 Veterans of Foreign Wars will place flowers on the graves of deceased veterans. The veterans will begin in Evergreen Cemetery and proceed to the town’s three other cemeteries. Anyone interested in assisting is welcome.

A parade will follow on Monday, May 26. An observance will be held at 9 a.m. outside of the Music Hall at the corner of Front and Cottage Streets. After the ceremony the parade will stop at the Marion Town House. The parade will continue to Old Landing Cemetery and end at the Old Landing Veterans Memorial Park. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the ceremony.

In case of rain, all services will be held in Sippican School.
