Aug 17, 2017

Marion firefighters were among those who responded to an Onset fire involving three houses on August 17.

A fire was reported in a two-structure house on Bedard Road in Onset around 3:20 p.m. on Thursday. According to emergency broadcasts, the fire spread to two other houses within an hour.

The houses, located next to Lopes Park off Onset Ave, were vacant, neighbors said.

"The kids go up there to drink and smoke their weed and party up there," said neighbor Sue Mello. Mello said her neighbor heard people in one of the houses early this morning.

Mutual aid from Plymouth, Bourne, Carver, also joined the Onset Fire Department in Lopes Park to deal with the spreading flames. Responders had to cut through the brush at the edge of the field to access the houses.

At this time, responders are continuing to fight the fire. This story will continue to be updated as information becomes available.
