The race was on Saturday afternoon as the Marion Cub Scout Pack 32 held its annual Pinewood Derby.

Each Scout started with a block of wood and then carved it into a car using his own design. The boys finished off their cars by decorating them before the competition.

“He and my husband have been strategizing for weeks,” said Suzanne Bellanger, whose son came in second overall.

The kids anxiously watched as their cars sped down the track. After a number of heats, the winners were announced. Jack Goodwin came in first place, Gavin Bellanger in second and Tyler Young in third.
