Marion Selectmen approve new police contract
On Tuesday night, Selectmen approved a new contract with the Marion Police Brotherhood that increased private detail rates and the hourly rates for officers working second and third shifts.
Town Administrator Paul Dawson said contract negotiations had been ongoing for the past year and half.
“The details have been worked out and the Police Brotherhood has voted to ratify the agreement,” he said.
Officers working the second and third shift will see raises of 5 cents and 10 cents in hourly pay, respectively. Officers who work private details received a $1 hourly increase for those jobs.
Dawson said there were other minor changes, not related to money, in the new contract.
Selectmen offered congratulations after voting to approve the contract.
“There were a couple of things that really needed to be hammered out,” said Chair Steve Cushing.
