Marion Town Administrator back at his post after illness
At his first Selectmen meeting since early February, Town Administrator Paul Dawson extended thanks to friends and colleagues who assisted him during his medical leave of absence.
"Cancer is difficult," he said, noting that after a challenging recovery that he is happy to report the outcome is good.
"The doctor said the word 'cured,'" he said.
Dawson thanked everyone who came to his assistance by bringing him meals, helping with grocery shopping, and "doing all the things that were virtually impossible for me at the time."
He called the acts of kindness "a debt I'll never be able to repay."
Dawson said many people donated anonymously and helped him in ways he may not know about.
"I'm trying my best to say 'thank you' to everyone. The old expression is, 'it takes a village.' I'm glad to be in this village," he said.
