Marion voters can now run for elected positions

MARION — Marion’s Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, May 12 and will be followed by the Town Election on Friday, May 16.

There is one available elected position for the Board of Assessors, Board of Health, Select Board, Marion School Committee and the Old Rochester Regional School Committee and two open seats for the Planning Board and Open Space Acquisition Commission.

Those interested in running for an elected position must be a registered voter in the Town of Marion.

Nomination Papers are available beginning Monday, Feb. 3 and must be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office, located at 2 Spring Street, by the end of the business day on March 28. Potential candidates must secure 28 signatures to be placed on the ballot, but the Town Clerk recommends that potential candidates obtain at least 35 signatures.
