Marion woman thrown from car in Route 6 rollover
A woman driving on Route 6 in Marion was ejected from her car after she struck a utility pole on Wednesday morning. Stephanie Childers, 33, of Marion was the only person involved in the crash and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.
Marion Police and Marion Fire/EMS responded to a 911 call around 10:45 a.m. for the accident, which occurred between Abel’s Way and Sparrow Lane, and found that a Chevrolet Malibu sedan had hit a pole and rolled over.
The utility pole was broken and power lines were down across Route 6, according to police. All four lanes of the highway were closed for about 90 minutes until Eversource was able to remove the wires.
Mattapoisett Police and Mass Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
