Marion's annual Halloween Parade marches to the beat of drums

Nov 1, 2011

Families filled the streets to catch a glimpse of costumes, kids and the Sippican School Drum Corps at the annual Halloween parade hosted by the Marion Arts Center.

The parade worked its way down Front Street, up Main Street to the elementary school at Spring Street, and back to the Music Hall down Cottage Street. The Marion Art Center’s staff, all dressed as witches, handed out goodie bags of candy to the eager kids in the Music Hall.

According to Laurie Knight, one member of the Board of Directors for the Marion Art Center, the annual parade is one of the year’s highlights for the Art Center staff based on the community’s involvement during the event.

“It’s just hilarious,” Knight said. “It’s fun to see no one watching the parade and everyone in it. And it’s great to see all of the creativity from all the kids and the families.”
