WAREHAM – Mary Ellen (Potter) Briggs, 85, of Wareham, passed away at home on September 30, 2024. She was the wife of the late Kenneth H. Briggs.

She was born in New Bedford the daughter of the late Alvin Elmer and Catherine Theresa (Walker) Potter. She grew up in Marion and lived in Wareham for most of her life. She graduated from Wareham High School and Kinyon Campbell Business School in New Bedford.

Mrs. Briggs worked as an office manager for Allergy and Asthma Associates in Wareham.

She was a member of the Pokanoket Wampanoag Tribe and enjoyed attending Powwows, gatherings and Native American History. She also enjoyed going to Drama Club, Antiquing and she loved jewelry.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Shaw and her husband Mark of Rochester; three sons, Eric Briggs of Wareham, Scott Briggs and his wife Linda of Denmark, ME and Chris Briggs of Vernon, CT; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.

Visting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Old Landing Cemetery, Marion.
