Mattapoisett employees band together for Rob's Mob

Apr 26, 2017

Mattapoisett town employees are teaming up for a good cause – again.

After a successful fundraiser on April 8 for Highway Department employee Rob Daener raised more than $30,000, employees are hoping to give back to someone else.

Rob Carreiro is currently living with multiple myeloma, a cancer formed by malignant plasma cells, and Mattapoisett employees want to help him out after he and his wife Sue, manager of Mattapoisett Diner, were instrumental in organizing Daener’s fundraiser.

On April 30 there will be an informal 5K, where participants can either walk or run at their own pace. The route will follow the Tiara Classic Course – Oxford Creamery to Ned’s Point, Tupola to Marion Road, Pine Island to Prospect and down Route 6 to finish at Oxford Creamery.

The group, dubbed Rob’s Mob by Sue, is hoping to raise money to donate to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Donations can be made out to the MMRF and dropped off at the selectmen’s office at Mattapoisett Town Hall.

The walk starts at 10 a.m. in front of Oxford Creamery, and will go on rain or shine.

“Wear a rain coat,” Town Administrator’s Assistant Mel Pacheco said.
