Mattapoisett Fire Station project, several others, move forward after bonds OK’d
Selectmen approved nearly $12 million in bonds for 10 town projects, including a $9,275,000 bond for Mattapoisett's fire station project.
Treasurer Kristie Costa and Brianne Susel, a fiscal advisor with Unibank, met with board members on Feb. 24, seeking final approval.
Costa said seven bids were received for the bonds. She added that Mattapoisett was able to put a total of $978,500 to decrease the total amount borrowed, which will slightly lower the town's annual payments.
Ultimately, Raymond James & Associates, Inc. were awarded the bonds.
The 10 projects, which total $11,718,500 are as follows: fire station ($9.2 million), fire station entrance, ($275,000), Upper Pearl St./Tobey Lane engineering ($70,000), stormwater drainage, ($150,000), Pine Island watershed ($125,000), Pease Point water main ($250,000), water tank rehabilitation and repair ($777,000), water aquifer land protection ($150,000), village water main replacement ($278,500), bridge repair ($375,000).
