Mattapoisett Harbor Days to run July 20 to 22
Harbor Days will kick off in Mattapoisett on Friday, July 20 and run through the weekend.
Hosted by the Mattapoisett Lions Club, events begin with the chowder and seafood roll dinner at 5:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and free concert under the tent at 7 p.m. with Couto and Mulligan.
Over 100 crafters and artisans will set up in Shipyard Park (rain or shine) and will be open on Saturday, July 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The annual Lobsterfest is Saturday, July 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Pancakes and sausage will be served on Sunday, July 22 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Luncheon foods will be available under the tent both Saturday and Sunday.
The Mattapoisett Lions Club famous Strawberry shortcake will make its first appearance on Wednesday, July 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the Mattapoisett Town Band Concert. Strawberry shortcake is also available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20 and throughout the weekend until sold out.
Special events under the big tent include the annual Taste of the Town featuring local restaurants on Tuesday, July 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. sponsored by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club. Proceeds benefit the Woman’s Club Scholarship, and the Showstoppers will provide entertainment.
The Women’s Center is hosting its second annual Men Who Cook Summer Sizzler on Sunday, July 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring Men Who Cook chefs from throughout the South coast area. Live entertainment is planned for the entire weekend at the Gazebo in Shipyard Park.
The Lions Eyemobile will be in the parking lot on the wharf on July 21 until Sunday. There is no charge and it is open to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.The specially equipped mobile unit travels to communities, where Lions Club and other volunteers provide free health screenings for vision, glaucoma, hearing and blood pressure. Lions Clubs all over the world are dedicated to help citizens preserve their vision and hearing.
Harbor Days has been the major fundraising event for the Mattapoisett Lions Club for more than 25 years.
