Mattapoisett hosts lectures, social event

MATTAPOISETT — Two lectures and a social event will come to Mattapoisett at the beginning of November.

On Sunday Nov. 4 the Mattapoisett Free Public Library will host a “History of the Silver Gull” lecture about the past uses of the waterfront property. The lecture, given by Michael Esposito and Cynthia Redel, will begin at 2 p.m. and last until 3:30 p.m.

Nov. 9 will bring two events, one a Tri-town Ladies Night out which will offer an hour of shopping from local vendors at 6:30 p.m. and a game of Bingo at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus at 57 Fairhaven Rd, Mattapoisett.

At 6 p.m. on Nov. 9 Dr. Gregory Skomal from the Discovery Channel will present a lecture on White Sharks in Our Backyard at Old Rochester Regional High School. The event is a fundraiser for the sixth grade, and tickets will be $5 per person, or $20 per family.
