MATTAPOISETT — The Land Trust has cancelling its annual campfire and s’mores event scheduled for Sat. Oct. 26 due to the risk of Eastern equine encephalitis. 

The mosquito-carried disease will be ended by a hard frost, but since a frost has not happened yet, mosquitoes are still active after dusk and at risk of transmitting the disease. 

The Lands Trust will hold the event in October 2020.
