Mattapoisett Library events for kids
The Mattapoisett Library has a week of programs and events during school vacation.
All week long children are invited in to view and read the indoor story walk about a book titled "Winter Lights" based on quilts. There will also be a quilt-based craft in the Children's Room.
Wednesday, April 23, 1 to 3 p.m.
The Junior Friends of the Library will show the film "Rio." All children are invited, and admission is free. Popcorn will be served.
Thursday, April 24, all day
In observance of the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic in April 1912, the Children's Room staff is hosting activities of "TITANIC" proportion! Come and test your Titanic trivia knowledge and do some Titanic activities. Students can try the "build your own Titanic" station and try to make a structure float.
Friday, April 25, 2 to 3 p.m.
Children can make some crafts for their dolls, including a pet. During the workshop, make goldfish bowls, complete with goldfish (not real, of course.) All materials will be provided. The workshop is limited to 15 kids. All ages are welcome. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult to help with the craft. Registration is required. Stop in or call 508-758-4171.
April is Poetry Month in the Children's Room too
Roses are red, violets are blue. Why not come in and build a poem...or two? Check out one of the many poetry books, read a biography of a famous poet or try out the library’s new magnetic poetry station where kids can build their own poems by using the titles of favorite books.
Happy Birthday to the Mattapoisett Library!
To celebrate the library's recent birthday, for a limited time children may check out a "mystery book." A selection of books on display are wrapped like birthday presents. Check one out, take it home and be surprised by a great book. Fill out a rating sheet that is included and give an opinion on the book. Everyone who submits a rating will be entered for a chance to win a Barnes and Noble gift certificate.
