Mattapoisett Library events, news for adults and teens

Film and book discussion series
Read the novel, see the film, share your opinions! This monthly group will screen film adaptations of books. On Sunday, Jan. 15, the group will meet to discuss “The English Patient.” Talk about “A Beautiful Mind” on Sunday, Feb. 12, and “The King's Speech” on Sunday, March 12. All meetings are at 1:30 p.m.
Books for all
Dozens of new fiction, non-fiction and audiobooks are available in the reading room. Ask the library staff for a reading suggestion or log onto the library's website, www.mattapoisettlibrary.org, and use Novelist to search for your next great read. The library staff can also demonstrate how to use advisory tool too. Used book sales Used book sales are held once a month on Saturdays from 10-1 p.m. The next three sales dates are Jan. 14, Feb. 11 and March 11.
Open Sundays
The Mattapoisett Library is open on Sundays from 1-4 p.m.
Make cards
Make collage greeting cards on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 2-3 p.m. Sign up is requested.
Knitters wanted
All skill levels are welcome to the weekly knitting group on Thursdays, 3-4 p.m.
Writer's group
Writers of all genres are welcome. The group meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
Tech help
Get a new tablet, smart phone or e-reader as a gift? Work with librarian Elizabeth Sherry to learn how to use it efficiently. Download free books from the library to read any time, any place. For an appointment, call 508-758-4171.
Cooking for two
Get prepared for Valentine's Day with a cooking class by Mattapoisett resident and cookbook author Karen Covey on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. To register, email spizzolato@sailsinc.org.
Learn to sew
Bobbi Gaspar and Mary Chaplain will lead sewing class on Saturday, March 18 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Sign up by emailing rsmith@sailsinc.org or call the library.
