Mattapoisett officials consider TV promotion for town
Football legend Terry Bradshaw might be interested in bringing his show “Communities of Distinction” to Mattapoisett, but it’s not going to officials’ heads.
The town was recently approached by the production company in charge of the television series that looks for “hidden gems” in North America and is hosted by Bradshaw.
But at an almost $20,000 cost to the town, Selectmen suggested pursuing less expensive video options that would still promote the town.
“If we were able to do something with our own staff, we could put this as a video link on our webpage. For anyone interested in our community, it would be nice to get a half hour program,” said Town Administer Mike Gagne.
Selectmen Chair Jordan Collyer also suggested pursuing other options such as Boston’s “Chronicle.”
“With the resurgence of activity on the waterfront, we can make ourselves more attractive. It’s something we should consider,” said Collyer.
Besides a video, Gagne said Town Media Specialist Danny White is also working on a smartphone application that would provide quick answers for visitors to the waterfront.
