Mattapoisett Public Health Nurse announces retirement

Mar 4, 2020

MATTAPOISETT — The town’s public health nurse, Amanda Stone, announced at a Board of Health meeting March 4 that she would retire on July 3.

The nurse said that she has absolutely loved working in Mattapoisett, where she has been for 15 years, but family obligations in the United Kingdom (where she is from) and caring for older parents mean she has to step away from a full-time role.

She will work with the Board of Health to find her replacement, and does not anticipate that there will be a gap in coverage.

“Mattapoisett is special. Everybody knows that. It’s a wonderful community to work in. The way town departments work together should be a model for small communities,” Stone said.

She added that this feeling of support only makes it easier to have a healthy community.
