MATTAPOISETT — Mattapoisett resident Jessica Russo has been appointed as the North East regional strategic Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of the American Cancer Society. 

According to an American Cancer Society press release, Russo will “collaborate nationally to help increase [Diversity, Equity and Inclusion] efforts, focusing on engaging diverse volunteer networks, community organizations, and corporate partners” in this role. 

According to the American Cancer Society website, the organization aims to “improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.”

Russo received her bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has since had numerous roles including being the strategic account manager of college partnerships for New Balance according to the press release.
