BARRINGTON, R.I. — St. Andrew’s School in Rhode Island held a Recognition Day to celebrate members of the Class of 2023 who have committed to continuing their athletic careers at the college level.

Mattapoisett resident Cadence Johnson and Rochester resident Patrick Spenard will both continue to play basketball at their respective colleges.

Johnson will play D1 Women’s Basketball at Merrimack University and Spenard will play D2 Men's Basketball at Franklin Pierce University.

Of the 53 St. Andrew’s students graduating this year, eighteen will play collegiate sports this fall. Sixteen have made selections, and two are still selecting between offers from multiple colleges and universities.

“I am incredibly proud of the seniors and post graduates who have chosen to continue their athletic careers in college”, said Michael Hart, Director of Athletics at St. Andrew’s. “Each of these incredible student athletes has significantly impacted the St. Andrew’s community with their dedication to their sport.”

St. Andrew’s Women’s Prep Basketball alone celebrated seven members of their team who will be playing in college, and the five that have announced their commitment will be playing at the most competitive level, NCAA Division 1. St. Andrew’s Women’s Prep Basketball is led by Coach Christina Batastini.
