Mattapoisett summer camp announces new director
Mattapoisett Recreation's Seahorse Explorers Summer Program will have two new leaders this June.
Erin Feeney will take on the role of camp director. Feeney has a background in marine biology, ecology and sustainability and has spent time as an educator both in classrooms and outside.
For the last five years, Feeney has worked with the University of Maine's 4H summer camp.
"My goal this summer, and in the years to come, is to build a program that both encourages learning and is a fun, exciting way to spend the summer," said Feeney. "I also look forward to expanding the camps relationship with other organizations in the community."
There will also be a new assistant camp director this summer. Mackenzie Martin was at the camp last summer as a one on one aide to a child with special needs.
She is a recent graduate of Bridgewater State University with degrees in elementary education and psychology, and is pursuing a masters degree in special education.
Martin has been a substitute teacher in Mattapoisett since 2013 and has worked with children of all ages.
