MATTAPOISETT — Tent sale? No. Circus? No. Town Meeting? Yes. 

At a July 28 Selectmen’s meeting, Town Administrator Michael Lorenco detailed how Town Meeting will go down on Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. at Old Rochester Regional High School under a tent in the middle of the school’s track.

The tent will have outdoor bathroom facilities and a power source for a microphone and speakers.

In talking with District Superintendent Michael Nelson and school Facilities Director Eugene Jones, Lorenco requested the tent hold 200 or more people.

More handicapped spaces will be available for those who need it, and the plans for the Meeting have been submitted to the town’s Police and Fire Chief for review. 

Lorenco said that plans for check-in and check-out are still in the works.
