Mattapoisett Veterans Day ceremony

Mattapoisett will hold a Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Old Hammondtown School.

Technical Sergent Sara D.J. Garde of Mattapoisett will be the guest speaker. Garde is a a decorated combat veteran who has served in the Armed Forces for more than 15 years.

TSgt Garde’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC), Army Achievement Medal with 3 OLC, Meritorious Unit Award with 3 OLC, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Reserve Forces Meritorious Service  Medal with OLC, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star Device, Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Star Device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with OLC, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with ‘M’ Device and the Army Service Ribbon.

She holds a degree in history from Bridgewater State College in nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician and certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher.
