MARION — The Marion Select Board unanimously voted to approve Police Chief Richard Nighelli’s request to appoint Andrew Miller to the role of assistant harbormaster at a Select Board meeting on Tuesday, May 7.

According to Nighelli, Miller graduated from Old Rochester Regional High School in 2018 before attending college at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in emergency management.

Miller has experience working within the department before, as Nighelli said that Miller has been working part-time with the harbormaster since 2020. He also has worked for the Recreation Department as a camp counselor.

Miller will begin Massachusetts Police training in August.
