Musical duo to make stops in Marion, Mattapoisett
On June 22 and 23, local musicians Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards will make stops at the Island Wharf Bandstand in Marion and the Mattapoisett Congregational Church respectively as part of the duo’s seventh annual Massachusetts Walking Tour.
The tour is part of an effort to organize local artists with community based organizations, such as land conservation groups, hikers, musicians, artists and local cultural councils. It runs from June 12-June 28 with the duo covering over 100 miles on foot.
The 100 miles starts in North Truro and ends in Swansea. Along the way the duo will make stops on the Cape Cod Rail Trail in Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham, Brewster, West Barnstable, Sandwich and Carver. There will also be stops on the South Coast Bikeway in Wareham, Fairhaven, Dartmouth and New Bedford in addition to the stops in Marion and Mattapoisett.
The duo encourages the public to join in the daily hikes and to walk or bike to the events as part of the National Park Service’s “Healthy Parks Healthy People” initiative and the Massachusetts Libraries “Get Moving” summer reading program. All routes and additional information are available on www.masswalkingtour.org.
