New chess club and more at Marion’s library
MARION — The Elizabeth Taber Library is starting a new chess club, and will host a variety of other events in August.
Chess players or aspiring players of all experience levels are welcome to drop into the library on Tuesdays between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. for chess instruction or a game with Jim Kegle.
On Tuesday Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. The Elizabeth Taber Library with the Sippican Land’s Trust and the New England Costal Wildlife Alliance present ‘STRAWS.’
The groups hope that the award-winning film will help start a conversation about single use plastics in the community. Organizers will also provide practical alternatives with a reusable materials demonstration.
Elizabeth Taber Library patrons can sign up for the library’s summer picnic potluck on Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. Bring a favorite picnic dish to the event.
Contact the library at 508-748-1252 or www.elizabethtaberlibrary.org for more information.
