New Old Hammondtown principal meets community with popsicles
MATTAPOISETT — The new principal of Old Hammondtown School hosted an event Wednesday, Aug. 14 that served an opportunity for the community to meet her — while enjoying a popsicle too.
Principal Stephanie Wells met Old Hammondtown families at the school’s playground during “Popsicles with the Principal,” according to a news release.
Wells became Old Hammondtown’s principal in July, replacing the retiring Kevin Tavares.
She is a Plymouth native who previously served as an assistant principal for Rockland Public Schools. She has also previously worked as an assistant principal for Taunton Public Schools. Well began her career in 1995 as a first grade teacher at Scituate Public Schools, then joined Plymouth Public Schools in 2007 as a kindergarten teacher and in 2013 as a technology integration specialist.
Wells has a bachelor's degree from New York University, a Master of Education in elementary education from Bridgewater State College, and a certificate of advanced graduate study from the University of New England.
