No flames at Marconi Village fire call

Oct 18, 2011

The Marion Fire Department responded to a call at Marconi Village shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Fire Chief Thomas Joyce, residents reported a burning smell coming from an apartment in the east wing. Upon arrival, firefighters could sense heat coming from the room as well.

Joyce said the resident had been cooking on the stove and left a pot unattended, which then boiled over and began to char. Although there was a great deal of smoke, Joyce said, there were no flames.

Firefighters fanned out the smoke and left the scene around 9:45 a.m.
