Old Rochester loses South Coast Conference championship title to Wareham

The Old Rochester Bulldogs fell three points short Friday night in a hard-fought bid for the South Coast Conference small division championship against Wareham. The final score was 69-66.

Throughout the night the lead seesawed back and forth with the Bulldogs leading 37-34 at the end of the first half.

The Bulldogs managed to keep this lead well into the fourth quarter, but with less than three minutes remaining, the Vikings tied the score.

As the final seconds ticked down, the Vikings carved out a three point advantage and the Bulldogs never regained enough momentum to recover.

Old Rochester’s top scorer was Cole McIntyre with 21 points. These included three of the team’s 3-point baskets.

McIntyre tied with Wareham’s top scorer, Destine Haywood-Gomes.

Prior to Friday night’s game, the Bulldogs had lost twice to the Vikings. Their South Coast Conference record was 8-4. Their overall record is now 9-6.

Their next game, which was rescheduled from December, will be at home against Dedham on Feb. 16. Tip off is at 1:30 p.m.
