MATTAPOISETT — Old Rochester Regional School District has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its commitment to music education.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Old Rochester Regional School District answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, and support for the music programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

“With over one third of our students participating in band or chorus, it’s safe to say that music plays a large role in our students’ lives,” said ORR Junior High School Principal Kevin Brogioli. “I am grateful for the support of our communities and their commitment to the arts and music education.”

This award recognizes that ORR is leading the way with learning opportunities as outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act, educational legislation which recommends music and the arts as important elements of a well-rounded education for all children.
