The Old Rochester School Committee approved two overnight field trips for students in the DECA entrepreneurship club at OR who qualify for spring competitions.

The first of the two trips, the State Career Development Conference, or SCDC, will take place from March 10-12 at a convention center in Boston with attending students staying overnight in the city.

The second trip will take students to the International Career Development Conference, or ICDC, in Atlanta, Georgia from April 23-26.

Representatives from the club said that both conferences are important parts of the club’s competition process in addition to providing valuable networking and career development opportunities.

The club said that in 2019-20, 59% of DECA members qualified for the SCDC and 15% qualified for the ICDC. In 2020-21, 68% qualified for the SCDC and 20% for the ICDC.

All events will follow covid health and safety protocols, according to the club’s presentation.
