Old Rochester volleyball enters MIAA quarter finals
MATTAPOISETT — The Old Rochester Regional High School girls volleyball team took a 3-2 win against Dennis-Yarmouth on Monday, Nov. 6 in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Div. 3 round of 16.
This win sends the team to the Div. 3 quarter finals to face Weston at a to-be-announced game.
Old Rochester’s win against Dennis-Yarmouth is their third —and closest — against the team this season. The team previously won 3-0 against Dennis-Yarmouth on Sept. 15 and again on Oct. 25.
“It was back and forth momentum,” said Old Rochester Regional High School varsity volleyball coach Jimmy Oliveira. “[These are] two teams who are very familiar with each other not only over the years but this year specifically … It’s a chess match.”
According to Oliveira, both teams know each other’s strengths and weaknesses due to their familiarity.
Moving into the quarter finals, Old Rochester will face Weston, a team that beat the Bulldogs 0-3 earlier this season.
“This team has been really resilient all season. They persevered through some tough times and they’ve been a rebound team,” said Oliveira. “Weston beat us earlier this season, so knock on wood, we’re 3-0 against other teams we’ve lost to earlier this season."
