To the Editor:

Thanks to the amazing generosity of our community, the Marion Fireworks Committee has raised over $40,000 for this year’s display. We’re extremely grateful for every donation, however we still need approximately $25,000 to reach our goal.

A lot goes into planning and paying for the fireworks, from professional pyrotechnics to police details, music, vendors and more. We need to have all funds and contracts secured by the end of May. As it stands, the tentative date of the event is July 1.

Marion shines brightest on the Fourth of July weekend. We’re hopeful local residents and businesses will step up over the coming weeks to bring back this beloved Marion tradition.
