Opinion: Thanks from the Elizabeth Taber Library trustees

Jul 26, 2021

To the editor:

The Elizabeth Taber LIbrary is financed 70% by tax dollars. The remainder of our programs, collection and services are supplied by revenue from grants, donations and fundraisers.

We are so grateful to those who volunteered and provided support for this weekend's safe, socially distanced Book Sale fundraisers on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to all who donated their gently used books. (You receive a tax slip for your book donation.)

Huge thanks to the Abington Bank who supplied the bags in which customers placed their book purchases. Hefty bags of books stuffed by shoppers were 10 dollars or 20 dollars depending on the size. Our able, energetic and invaluable volunteers led by Nita Howland, staffed the sale.

Elizabeth Taber Library Wants You! Volunteering to support your library helps the fundraising for our invaluable educational and cultural institution, it also connects you to new people within our community. Only a part time Marion resident? No problem. You can help with short term events such as Library Book Sales, Library Garden Trivia Night, Bridge event or our November, "moveable feast",- the Tables of Content, wherein residents enjoy a multicourse dinner and book discussion and help develop new programming to meet the interests of our citizens.

Interested in becoming a Library Volunteer? It's the best way to fundraise, learn new skills and "friendraise" at the same time! Leave your name and email at the circulation desk at the Library.

With Sincere Thanks,

Elise M. Frangos
