OR student pulls 9-ton truck at animal shelter fundraiser
MATTAPOISETT — ORR Junior Brady Lee participated in a fundraiser put on by Mass Iron Gym in Hanson on Sept. 11 to raise money for homeless animals at the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts.
Lee, a Mattapoisett resident, pulled a Freight-liner truck weighing about nine tons for a distance of 30 feet.
“Honestly, I didn’t think I could do it,” he said, adding that most of his workout buddies who went with him to the event, “didn’t think I was going to be able to pull it.”
Lee was brought to the event by his trainer Elizabeth Sellinger of Rockbody Training by Liz in Wareham where he has been working out for about 2 years.
Lee said he hadn’t even planned to try and pull the semi-truck but after some encouragement from Sellinger, he gave it a shot.
“She always pushes us to the max and I love it,” said Lee. “I just got my weight down and once the wheels started turning it wasn’t too bad.”
Some other athletes on Lee’s Rockbody team pulled a Hummer H2 weighing approximately 6,600 lbs.
The event featured multiple vehicles for fitness fanatics who donated to the cause to test their mettle on, including the semi, Hummer, and a pickup truck.
In total, the event raised over $1,500 for the animal shelter.
Lee is also a committed Lacrosse player at ORR High School and Piatelli Lacrosse, a club team.
