Old Rochester Regional High School seniors Olivia Labbe and Daniela Ochoa will continue to compete in their respective sports at the collegiate level after signing scholarship letters on Monday morning.

“It's official. It's not just a bunch of phone calls and emails. It's real,” said Olivia after signing her John Hancock for UMass Lowell where she will play Division 1 softball.

The daughter of David and Lisa Labbe and a Rochester resident, Olivia played baseball from age 5 to 12 before switching to softball.

In addition to varsity softball at ORR, she is a captain on the varsity basketball team.

Daniela, the daughter of Kelly Ochoa and a Fairhaven resident, will matriculate to Georgetown College in Kentucky come next fall. Daniela will compete in the power team gym program at the Division 2 school.

A gymnast since age 3, Daniela switched to team gym in 2008 and described power team as “synchronized swimming on land.” The sport features a jumping portion with tumbling, vault and mini trampoline as well as floor exercise. Daniela trains at Bay State Gymnastics in Dartmouth.
