Patricia French Shaw died on March 20 at the age of 90 in Marion. Pat was born in New York City to Frances and Harry Nichols French on June 8, 1924. She graduated from the Chapin School in New York City in June 1942 and the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in June 1946. Following graduation, she worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital where she met Howard C. Davis, Jr., M.D., whom she married in 1948. They later moved to Marion to raise their children. After her husband’s death in 1980, Pat met and married Robert J. Shaw in 1984. They moved to Lake Wales, Florida where they enjoyed being part of the community of Mountain Lake.

Pat was an avid golfer and a member of The Kittansett Club, of which she was the chair of Ladies Golf for many years, in Marion and the Mountain Lake Club in Lake Wales.

She also enjoyed gardening and was involved in the Marion Garden Discussion Group. She had a special fondness for the Bahamas and once caught a prize winning marlin while fishing in Eleuthera.

Pat is survived by a son, H. Carter Davis, III, and his wife Robin Ragle-Davis; a daughter, Nancy Davis Johnson, and her husband, Gregory Johnson; and two grandchildren, Victoria P. Somers and her husband, Paul Somers; and Courtney C. Davis and her fiancé, Jesse Landers. Pat was also predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 2010.

Services for Pat will be held in Marion later this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to Tobey Hospital, Wareham; St. Gabriel’s Church, Marion; or Community Resources Network, Wareham.
