Paul R. Sarris, 64, of Marion, died October 11, 2011 in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (McGirr) Sarris.

He was born in Newton, grew up in Millis and lived in Marion for many years. He graduated from Millis High School, Class of 1965 and later graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business College in Boston.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Sarris worked as a sound man for ABC News for many years before retiring.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the American Legion in Millis. He loved the ocean and being out on Buzzards Bay in his boat.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Kimberly Besse of Wareham; his brother, Joseph “Howie” Sarris and his wife, Gail Richardson of Medway and Hobe Sound, FL; several other family members including his niece, Emily; 2 nephews; and numerous friends.

His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct, 15, 2011 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rita’s Church, Front St., Marion. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Marion.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 at the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
