Mattapoisett's senior citizens got a treat on Friday morning when third graders from Center School showed up to the annual Great American Breakfast dressed as famous citizens from Massachusetts.

The annual breakfast, with a smorgasbord provided by third grade parents, honors the town's seniors, said Principal Rose Bowman.

"They made a lot of sacrifices so we could have this school," she said.

To the group gathered she said, "We salute you. We honor you as heroes in Mattapoisett."

Third graders filed into the cafeteria dressed as Paul Revere, Dr. Seuss, Nancy Kerrigan, and other notable people from the state.

The kids studied each person for weeks, learning their histories. After introductions and a few songs, the students mingled with their audience and answered questions about their chosen historical figure.
