ROCHESTER — Old Rochester ballplayers across two different age groups faced off simultaneously against visiting towns Saturday morning at Gifford Park.
The two games on July 27 composed part of the annual Cranberry Brawl baseball tournament hosted by Old Rochester Youth Baseball. The tournament spanned two weekends.
Town teams in the 10U and 12U age groups competed the weekend of July 19, while 9U and 11U teams took the field the weekend of July 26.
Sean Tobin, who played third base and left field Saturday for the 11U team, said the tournament had been “good” and “fun.”
After playing Rehoboth, in which the Bulldogs fell 3-1 in a tight, exciting game, coach T.J. Rose said the team had “to take it in stride.”
“You win and you learn,” Rose said. “Hopefully we learn from this.”
Isaac Rose, who also played third, said the game was “pretty good.”
“We had a lot of hits,” he said.
Rose said the tournament had been fun, and he was excited for the remaining games.
