Pick your own cranberries on Oct. 12

Sep 28, 2013

Nothing says fall in the Buzzards Bay watershed quite like the annual cranberry harvest. Come pick your own fresh, local cranberries at the Buzzards Bay Coalition’s Mattapoisett River Reserve, where 50 acres of wild cranberries grow in retired bogs. Coalition staff will talk about the history and ecological importance of the property, which has been protected to preserve its natural features.

Cranberries can be picked for free on Oct. 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. The river reserve is located on Acushnet Road in Mattapoisett. Pre-registration is requested; for more information, contact Alicia Pimental at Pimental@savebuzzardsbay.org or 508.999.6363 ext. 224. This program is part of the Coalition’s Bay Adventures series – programs designed for explorers of all ages to get outside and discover Buzzards Bay.
