Plumb Library events for November

Picture book author

Nancy Cote, Somerset author and illustrator, will visit the library on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11-12:30 p.m. for a reading and signing of her two newest picture books. She will also lead a related craft.

Cote will also share a slideshow of her work and answer questions. Copies will be available for purchase. Due to limited space, pre-registration is required. Register at the event calendar. Cote will also be at the Friends of Plumb Library’s Holiday Fair on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Family Literacy Month

November is Family Literacy Month.Enjoy a storywalk of “A is for Autumn” around the library grounds Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12. The library is closed on Nov. 11, but, since the storywalk is outside, it is always available. There will be a box on the ramp to rate the storywalk experience. Take a picture and email it to lfuller@sailsinc.org. Register at the events calendar.

Holiday wreaths

The Friends of Plumb Library are selling 12-inch, double-sided wreaths. The cost is $14 for those with a bow and $11 for those without. Order forms can be found on the library’s website or at the desk.

Orders must be placed by Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. The wreaths can be picked up during the Holiday Fair on Saturday, Dec. 3 by 3 p.m. Other arrangements can be made if orders cannot be picked up that day. For more information, call the library at 508-763-8600.

Book groups

For their November book, the Just the Facts Nonfiction Book Discussion Group, will read “The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold story of the Women who Helped Win World War II” by Denise Kiernan. The discussion will be Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

The Café Parlez selection for November is “The Dinner” by Herman Koch. The discussion will be Monday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m.. Books are available at the desk.

The Council on Aging Book Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month, at 10:15 a.m., in the activity room of the Senior Center, Dexter Lane. Books are available at the library or at the meeting.

All attendees are requested to bring their library cards. Non-Rochester residents may participate.

The book for November is “The Paris Architect” by Charles Belfoure, which will be discussed on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 10:15 a.m.
