Police Chief Nighelli to participate in Jimmy Fund Walk

Sep 29, 2021

MARION — Police Chief Richard Nighelli is participating in the 2021 Jimmy Fund Walk to benefit cancer research.

The walk is taking place on Sunday, Oct. 3. Though the walk usually follows routes along the Boston Marathon course, walkers will be allowed to choose their own locations this year due to covid.

This year will mark the first time Nighelli has participated in the Jimmy Fund Walk, although he has supported the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in various other fundraising efforts in the past.

“Cancer has impacted so many families, including my own, and it will be an honor to join thousands of other individuals on Oct. 3 to raise money for such an important and impactful cause,” Nighelli said. “Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to finding a cure, and I thank everyone who has supported me thus far.”

Nighelli will be walking in uniform along with members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Police Chiefs Association.

Funds raised through the walk will support critical cancer research and innovative pediatric and adult patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
